Kendall Jenner Oral Care, MOON: Is it worth it?

I first discovered MOON oral care after Kendall Jenner posted about her Whitening Pen on Instagram. Soon after I decided to give it a try after watching some youtube reviews. I started using MOON in July, and, naturally, the first product I tried was the Kendall Jenner Whitening Pen, purely because it was dubbed Kendall's signature product. To avoid expensive shipping fees, I decided to purchase from beautybay.com rather than directly through MOON. The substance in the pen is a vanilla mint flavoured gel, which you brush onto your teeth. It is very easy to use, and, from my experience, takes about 1 minute to dry. As instructed, I would wait 30 minutes after using before I drank or ate anything. I was pleasantly surprised by the results! My teeth have never been dull, but they have never been the whitest either, but I definitely noticed a difference after using the whitening pen twice a day for 14 days, as instructed.

By August I decided to try more of the range. This time I purchased directly through MOON, and ordered both fluoride-free toothpastes, soft-bristle toothbrushes, stain prevention wipes, floss, breath mints and the travel pouch. I waited 22 days for it to arrive, which was annoying. The shipping method was described as 14-day UK ground delivery, which I took to mean it was being shipped from within the UK. I was wrong! The 14-day delivery actually means 14 working days, so around 21 actual days in total, and the UK ground delivery actually came from the US, which was confusing. I do think it took too long to arrive, but the only way to get certain products is to buy directly through MOON. Unfortunately I did not buy the whitening paste booster and it isn't sold in Boots or on beautybay.com, so I will have to place another order to try this and the new dissolving whitening strips.

When my order arrived, I could smell the mint coming through the box. It was very strong! I was excited to try everything, so that night I started my new oral care routine. I started by alternating which toothpaste I used, so one week I would use the stain removal toothpaste, and the next I would use the activated charcoal toothpaste, which are both lunar peppermint flavoured. To me, the activated charcoal toothpaste seems mintier than the stain removal toothpaste, despite having the same flavour, so I haven't used the activated charcoal paste in a while. I also started using the mint flavoured floss. I'm not sure if the stain prevention wipes actually work. They claim to wipe away surface stains, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's because I don't drink coffee or red wine, so there might not be many stains to remove, but when I have used them, I haven't really noticed a difference. Given the price of them ($12.99 for 10 wipes) I definitely expected something more.

I am not a fan of the toothbrushes. The toothbrushes that MOON sell are soft-bristle. I prefer to use, and have been told by dentists to use medium-bristle, but I decided to give them a go. I wish I had saved my money. I used both for about 2 weeks each just to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my teeth never felt fully clean, like they do when I use medium-bristle brushes. I haven't used them since and I have gone back to using medium-bristle brushes. If MOON were to bring out medium-bristle brushes would I get them? Sure. They're lightweight, smooth and aesthetically pleasing, in addition to being produced by a cruelty-free company.

In September I bought the flossers, mouth rinse, interdental kit, and another whitening pen from Boots to really "elevate my routine". I completely rejigged my oral care routine, following the steps MOON suggests. Instead of brushing my teeth, then using mouthwash, followed by flossing, now I floss, use the mouth rinse, brush and then whiten. I prefer the mint flossers to the floss. They are easier to use, and are more practical to sue on the go than normal floss. I also feel like they remove more from my teeth because they are thin enough to really move around inbetween my teeth. I haven't really used the interdental kit as the brush head is too big to fit between my teeth, but I'm sure it would work better for others.

The mouth rinse is fluoride-free, and has the same lunar peppermint flavour as the toothpastes, and I really like it. It's a grey rinse, which foams when using, and leaves virtually no mess in the sink. I really like it. As I mentioned above, the activated charcoal paste seems mintier than the stain removal paste, and this is even more noticeable if I use the activated charcoal paste after using the mouth rinse. I may be because the mouth rinse also contains activated charcoal, so everything seems stronger, but I don't know. The great thing about the mouth rinse is that it is alcohol-free, so there is no major burning sensation when you use it.

Overall, is MOON worth the price point?* Yes, some products certainly are. The floss retails at $3.99, and the flossers at $4.99. I haven't used the floss enough to comment on it, but for $3.99, it seems like a steal. The flossers are definitely worth their $4.99 price tag. You get 90 flossers in a pack, so for $4.99 you get a lot for your money. The mouth rinse retails at $8.99. One bottle has 400ml, and if used as instructed (10ml each use), it definitely lasts. Due to the fact that you get 400ml for $8.99, I would definitely say the mouth rinse is worth it. The toothbrushes come as a pack of 2 and retail for $6.99. If you like soft-bristle brushes, then they might be worth it, but for me they were a waste of money. The stain removal toothpaste retails for $7.99, and the activated charcoal toothpaste retails for $8.99. Both come with 119g of toothpaste. I honestly think it is worth it. It might seem expensive for toothpaste, but for me, I would rather pay more knowing that the product definitely has not been tested on animals, than buy a cheaper product from a company which tests on animals. For 10 wipes, I don't think they are worth it, especially as I do not see a difference after I've used them. Kendall's whitening pen retails at $19.99 for 2.65ml of product. Honestly I think this is worth it. You're supposed to use it 2 times a day for 14 days, and I'm still on my first pen after following these instructions since July. You use so little each time, that it really lasts, so I definitely think it is worth the price. Could it be a bit cheaper? Yes, because there is only 2.65ml. Is it only that expensive because it has Kendall's name on it? Probably, but it works, so I don't really mind. The stain prevention wipes retail at $12.99. Finally the breath mints retail for $1.99. I haven't tried them yet, but for $1.99 I don't see how you can go wrong! The interdental kit is no longer available on moonoralcare.com, and I can't remember how much it was in Boots, but for me it wasn't worth it.

Would I recommend MOON? Yes. In addition to being able to see a difference in how white my teeth are, MOON is a cruelty-free brand, which is a huge deal for me. I recently decided to become completely cruelty-free, and I was disgusted that OralB, a brand I have been using for years, tests on animals, along with Colgate and Aquafresh (both of which I have also used). It disgusts me that big companies such as these still test on animals just to make a profit by selling in China. So the fact that MOON is cruelty-free is a big plus, and one of the reasons why I will continue to use their products and support them. MOON products are also vegan, and free from SLS/SLES, triclosan, parabens, and artificial flavours.
